Bio
N/ADr. Hamilton has over thirty 35 years of experience as an educator. She began her educational career as a bilingual teacher in Nice, France. Dr. Hamilton expanded her teaching career by teaching both elementary & secondary level at the American International School, Nice, & Monaco.
For the past 27 years, Dr. Hamilton has resided in California serving as both a general education & special education teacher. Her passion for equitable educational outcomes for all students particularly the underserved led her to serving as a site administrator at the elementary and secondary level. Most notably Dr. Hamilton has dedicated her career to being a change agent, driven to do whatever it takes to support students with disabilities and underserved students. Dr. Hamilton has served as a district level administrator for the past 13 years as an executive director, director and program manager for special education programs.
As a District Office Special Education Administrator, Dr. Hamilton led the creation and implementation of innovative evidenced based Reading & Math programs resulting in extortionary results. Dr. Hamilton is a champion for inclusive practices. She has worked tirelessly partnering with Santa Clara County Office of Education Inclusion Collaborative to support inclusive practices for all students with disabilities from preschool, elementary, secondary to post-secondary programs.
Dr. Hamilton is known to be a dyslexia expert and has adopted multiple research-based reading programs at the elementary & secondary level to support students’ success to fully access to general education programs. Dr. Hamilton has served as County Office of Education Special Education Advisory along with the Multi-Tiered System of Support team. Her professional expertise, along with her passion for ongoing professional development and interventions has proven time and time again to have resulted in positive student outcomes and staff alike.
Dr. Hamilton holds a doctorate from Saint Mary’s College of California and published her dissertation ‘Professional Learning Community Impact on Student Achievement’. She also has a master’s degree in educational leadership with Honors, along with a general education & special education degree. Dr. Hamilton loves spending her time with her family, traveling, and the outdoors, playing tennis & swimming.
