About the Workshop
Special Education serves the neediest children in a school district and is almost always a large percentage of school district budgets. As special education enrollment continues to increase, funding remains inadequate to properly serve these students and contributions from the General Fund have risen significantly in recent year. Although many parents believe that the state and federal governments pay for special education services, but practitioners know that it is the local school district that ultimate manages these programs and contributes significant resources to ensure these students are served. But what funding is available for specials education, and how can it be used? How and why does funding differ from district to district and from county to county? Understanding and managing these resources is one of the keys to best serving these students, and to manage the District budget. This workshop will provide participants with the most current information on how special education funding works, and provide strategies on how to manage a successful and cost-effective special education programs.
